The Commission Process

Below are some FAQs and an outline of the typical steps of a commission.

Step 1 - Commitment

You made the decision to commission a custom piece of art for your home, that’s exciting! An art commission lets you get involved in the creative process of the artwork, guaranteeing it will satisfy the needs of your space and match whatever you envision.

Step 2 - Down Payment

Before we begin the creative process, I ask for a 30% down payment to cover material costs and ensure you are committed to the project. The remaining 70% is due once the artwork is completed.

Step 3 - The Setting

Now to the fun part! Before I can start painting your art piece, we need to decide on the exact size, medium, and color palette. Where will the artwork hang in your home? What is the color palette of your room? Are there any colors in your furniture or decor you are trying to match? So many questions, and we will address them all.

I will then work on a sample color palette that we will fine-tune together until it matches everything you envision.

Step 4 - Fulfillment

Once we are all set on size, medium, color palette, and any other creative details, I will begin painting your commissioned piece. It typically takes 2-3 weeks but I will make sure to stay in touch, give you updates, and contact you with any questions during the process.

Step 5 - Delivery

Your piece of art is done! Before arranging delivery I will send you photos to make sure it all matches up with what you had in mind and the piece will fit your space. Before getting your art shipped, I will collect the remaining 70% as well as shipping costs.

Step 6 - Installation

Once you receive your new artwork, it is ready to hang and hopefully bring you lots of joy for years to come! I would love to see the piece in its new home, so feel free to share photos with me via email or tag me on Instagram!
